Moment of Grace Must have been blind couldn’t see a thing living in danger and I couldn’t feel a thing I could hear your footsteps but I could not see your face you came up from behind with a moment of grace What brought you here to this unfamiliar place? I have lived too long without the beauty of your face so long have I been searching for clues of joy without a trace you caught me by surprise with moment of grace Mmm... so long have I been searching for clues of joy without a trace you came up from behind with a moment of grace you caught me by surprise with a moment of grace Mmm...

Don’t Think It’s Over I slipped my cocoon in the morning light not a moment too soon I took flight you called after me-- your heart was grieving Don’t think it’s over The worst is here and you’re still breathing what do you fear? put away your tears put away your tears Don’t think it’s over Don’t think it’s over Your lonely nights won’t last forever wait just awhile we’ll be together Darling I won’t rest until your heart is beating next to mine Your lonely nights won’t last forever wait just awhile we’ll be together Darling I won’t rest until your heart is leaping One of us is free soon the other follows such mystery is it hard to swallow? come after me your heart is grieving Don’t think it’s over Don’t think it’s over Don’t think it’s over Don’t think it’s over

Mercy On Me 06:15
Mercy On Me She was just a face on the bus. But there was something in the way she gave up her seat to that old man... So when she pulled the cord and the driver stopped, I followed her off. We walked awhile down the avenue. And for a moment I thought I’d turn back --thought I was being a fool. But I had a hunger and a need to see each little deed. Well, she visited a sick friend gave a quarter to that homeless man called the neighborhood children by name got bumped from behind, but she took the blame If she could have mercy on these maybe she could have mercy on me If she could have mercy on these maybe she could have mercy on me Now I can be rough and I can be cruel, if you get in my way. And I’d just as soon stare you down as say “Have a nice day”. But I have not lost my hunger for the taste of human kindness. And if she could have mercy on these, maybe she could have mercy on me. Well she brought flowers to that sick friend said “Keep the faith” to that homeless man joined the neighborhood children in a game said “No no no, honey --I got in your way!” If she could have mercy on these maybe she could have mercy on me If she could have mercy on these maybe she could have mercy on me She stepped around a corner, and when I got there, she was gone. And from behind I felt a strange sensation… so I turned around. I was in a sea of human faces -- people pushing past. And I thought -- if she could have mercy on just one of these, damn, she could have had mercy on me. If she could have mercy on these… Maybe she could have mercy on me…

Damn That Gun It was a moment of anger I was feelin' mean had a little bit of whisky she was talkin' 'bout leavin' she called me a coward and she said she had enough I pointed my pistol and she called my bluff... Damn that gun I woke up a sudden heard a step on the stair any thief in my house well he better beware you wanna rape my daughter you wanna rape my wife I'll give you 9 chambers notice I'm gonna take your life So I put on my robe and I got my gun heard the bastard in the kitchen and I fired off one I turned on the light and in a puddle of roses was my little girl.... Damn that gun Damn that gun Heard a knockin' on the door on the Mardi Gras a man's home's his castle and he makes the law for these stated reasons before my peers don't throw the book judge for no 15 years… Where was I? Heard a knockin' on the door on the Mardi Gras I grabbed my rifle just to be sure in the dark of the doorstep some drunk talkin' gib’r’ish when he stumbled toward me my finger pulled back I shot that Jap man not once but twice by the time he hit the floor he was cold as ice I cried, "O Jesus, O what have I done?" no way to bring him back now damn that gun Damn that gun....

One Breath 04:24
One Breath Seems like yesterday down by the afterbay we were swimmin' in green water Plug my nose, hold my breath jump off the cliff down to my death I was terrified You stood like a kyros up against the sun with no clothes more beautiful than a soul A reckless laugh then you made a swan dive green water buried you alive but you were invincible -- King of the Air King of the Air and Water Every journey of a thousand miles starts with one breath every journey of a thousand miles starts with one every journey of a thousand miles starts with one breath Now I'm grown up and you're a man there are things I don't understand about the things you never say Like how can you be so alive when me, I'm on overdrive a spark in a dry grass on a windy day On the edge of this cliff I stand looking down at a promised land a clean shot at green water Will I pull back or will I hold my breath? or maybe laugh in the face of death? Maybe I’m invincible imagine that, me, King of the Air -- King of the Air and Water Every journey of a thousand miles starts with one breath every journey of a thousand miles starts with one breath

Merry Ann 05:02
Merry Ann Merry Ann ain't you the one that usually wears a smile? well I ain't seen you smile in quite a while it's like you're on some god-forsaken planet like I'm some golgoth heathen who had struck you ah but maybe you've got secrets of your own like whatever happened to our love whatever happened to our souls and whatever will happen to us now Merry Ann a hundred stories I could tell about you the way I feel the summer in your eyes how I never loved the summer till I loved you mine was ever an obscured wintry heart and you would allow no snowy part to linger but what has melted here I do not recognize I have cried all night with the voice of the forsaken I’ve laughed out loud, but you could see I’m fakin‘ it -- nothin' is that funny without Merry Ann Merry Ann I told you when we married that I loved you that some might love you better but not more that if you took my band upon your finger it might teach you both how coarse and sore I am and you laughed at me and said with your eyes burning you'd take me for the worse and maybe better Well here I am damn it – I'm beating at the boundaries of your heart I've cursed you for the love you tried to show me I've cursed you for your kindness’ and patience I've cursed you for the years we dreamed and walked side by side thinking we'd be better than we were Now you cry all night with the voice of the forsaken you laugh out loud, but I can see you’re fakin’ it nothin' is that funny now, Merry Ann O Ann I'm buried in the winter of your silence I'm drifting on the ices of your glances I'm dead inside this skin you will not warm but I never loved the summer 'til I loved you O Ann is there nothing I can do to warm your heart? Well, whatever happened to our love? Whatever happened to our souls? Whatever will happen to us now? We have cried all night with the voice of the forsaken we’ve laughed out loud, when we both knew we were fakin' it -- Nothing is that funny now Can't we be merry, Ann? Can't we be merry, Ann? Can't we be merry, Ann?

Soul Parade 04:25
Soul Parade Walkin' through this desert land blisters on my lips and feet Joshua doesn't know the way he cried to heaven O comfort me I passed a snake on a slab of rock he hissed a welcome and he begged me to stop I sat beside him in the heat of the day, he said "You've had your company now go your way" I set my eyes on a distant glade I headed out on a Soul Parade I heard a voice in the arid wind it said "You can turn these rocks to bread again" But I was not in the mood to play I only wanted honey anyway I heard him crying as I walked away "Looks like the bakery is closed today" I’m headin’ out on a soul parade… I’m headin’ out I’m headin’ out I’m headin’ out on a soul parade The sun was weeping and it turned to black It shed a million tears to light my track The moon threw silver water at my toes I laughed when I saw where these stories go I came upon a sacred monolith the heat of truth beating on my neck I leaned upon it in it's cooling shade I leaned upon it and it rolled away it broke into a thousand spirit shades who sang “Thank you for joining our Soul Parade” Thank you for joining our Soul Parade… Our Soul Parade
